Thanks,

I really like this one: http://www.angelfish.co.uk/IST/images/Sequence1.gif
How would i get a logo onto the globe. I suspect that this is a globe texture onto a sphere. How do i modify the texture?
I was thinking to have my logo flying around (like gases around a planet) the globe. Any ideas? Use 3dsmax maybe?
God i love graphics!
Thanks,
David
No offense, but any logo associated with a globe is really cliche, especially regarding the internet or web design. I've reviewed lots of websites here, and can positively say that 75% of them had a globe on them.
You might concentrate on a graphic that makes your webpage/site really stand out in the viewer's memory. Something they wouldn't expect. ;)
Good Luck, though!

i've written a VB program that takes a flat image (such as an atlas or photo's)and places it on a spherical surface!! it redraws each frame at a given longitude, i then create a gif by combining all the bmps. ie the gif rotates the globe!
post an image to your site 180 by 360 pixels or that ratio, pm the link to me and i'll run it through the works for you, rem time is money so i don't want to be doing too many freebies!! you'll get an idea whether it's what you really really want!!

Hey - I'd love to get some help for this as well - can you email me? I've trying to figure out a way to send a private message - i don't really want to put my email address out there for the world to see...

you can use Gimp 2 to do this very easily just take a flat image and go to filters->animation-> select sphere and make a sphere and set the amount of frames (the more the slower the image will rotate, but the larger the output file) and let it process. then you can view it by going to filters-> animations-> play-> a new window will open and you can hit play again. save as .GIF and done! google gimp and you will find a download for the program. its free and is basically a chopped down version of photoshop Cs3
