what kind of items? images? links? lists? Some kind of context would be very helpful to find a solution :)

so you just want to add up the number of images and links on a page? As I said, some kind of context would be really helpful if you want good advice in return. What is the site about, why do you want to count them, how do you want to display it etc....

its about an auction system or it is an auction system? why do you want to count the product? What is the use of them being counted? Do you want to cont the products or the images? Im just not understanding the question here and your answers are very unspecific. sorry but i dont think I can really help.
