Hi,

for an assignment, i am creating a website that has video and audio on it.

Im having problems re-encoding the video for modem use (broadband will be no problem).I cant seem to get the filesize down enough for my liking without sacraficing quality too much, i have been using premiere, encoding with indeo video 5.1 at 30% quality and at 37kbs and a size of 180x144.

the filesize is still around 4.5mb so i was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which codec to use (needs to be playable in WMP without the need to download any extra codecs, so Divx, etc is out) what bitrate is best for modems and if theres a better software program to use.

Adobe Premiere Pro has a petty killer .wmv encoder which should squash your video to a really manageable size. Go to file/export/adobe media encoder and choose the window media 256k default. if that's still too big then modify the settings from there.
