working on a plan for my company that at the moment is still on the drawing board. I'm working on some documents I need to get a grant and I'm adding that if the company takes off I'd switch from external hosting to internal hosting....but can't think of any good enough reasons why?

I know everyone else does this but again I've searched the web and can't find many reasons why.

Any suggestions?

Only one I can think of is improved security.

- more control over backing up files
- more control over the "ownership" of the files
- more control over customer service/tech. fixes: they'd be up to you, not someone else
- more control over technology innovations (for the server) and the online abilities associated with them

On the other side of the coin, *a lot* of companies outsource hosting, and consider it sort of a commodity. If you're going to do justice to the discussion, you'd want to do an ROI on the whole thing. I would not presume that hosting internally is the right thing to do by default.
