I have written & edited my webpage using NVU. FFx is seeing what I want to see. The page is written xhtml. I understand this is not good for IE. Obvious reasons, the page looks like crazy stuff when viewed in IE. I tried to re-edit the page saving as html and htm. Not really getting the results I want.
Anyone want to point me in the right direction as to how to get the IE version to display properly.
I have various file formats for images. .gifs and .pngs displayed over a background. The IE version at best seems to see or put backgrounds on my .pngs.
Help is appreciated, I've tried all I know. (thats not much)

Thanks!

You might do better posting either your code, or a link to it.

As for your pngs, IE doesn't support png transparency (at least, not in IE6 and earlier). If transparency is required, you'd have an easier time using gifs.

Thanks Tweak4! I'll keep that in mind about the IE and png's. Also I edited my first post with the page in question. It's far from done and other changes are definately going to take place, but I'm very new, self taught, and have to do the visual thing to grasp my ideas. This site has been a blessing. I should have registered long time ago.

Oh well! Live and learn!

Thanks Again!

Change any extensions from .xhtml to .html IE doesn't know xhtml served as html.

Yeah! I figured that out the other day, still the IE that I'm using seems to do even better when I save as htm. Whats up with that? Is it some I'm doing?
My editor defaults to Xhtml so often, I redo the code manually in wordpad. The result is usually better for IE but still not there yet.
Thanks for the helps folks.

Why not use HTML instead of XHTML?

Simply because the editor defaults to xhtml and I spent several days on the page itself. Then when I noticed (found out) about IE's tricks, it was kind of too late. Saving in html or htm seems to not have any effect on the page now when I view it with IE. It may be that I'm just going to have to start all over.

A good many fixes for png's and IE, so I think I may go that way. I sort of have the page where I want it, so now it's a matter of making it work for all browsers.

Thanks Again for the directions folks!
