hi, everyone

i would like to request a review for my wordpress blog, theamreport.com (http://www.theamreport.com/) .

the site is pretty much a testing ground where i try out my php/wordpress skills. the content that i have on there came from various free article directory sites, and is just for show, so don't worry to much about the articles.

what i am mostly interested in, is your opinion on the site's:

- layout
- color scheme
- ad palcement
- navigation
- user-friendliness (is that even a word? lol.)

anything else y'all decide to add, is just icing on the cake.

thanks for your time.
much appreciated.

First off, very nice site!

Now for the Review:

Layout: I like it! The texure, or pattern, is very different and matches with everything else. GOOD!

Color Scheme:Consistant Color scheme! I like the colors together!

Ad Placement: Well, personally, when I go onto a persons website, I want to see their banner first. I would put it at the end, so that it doesnt draw attention from the viewer as they first come on.

Navigation:I think it works, but I would try finding some way of doing this. As you open each of your navigation sub-nav's, it stays open if you open another. I would try finding a way to having that if you open another, the other one closes. This is so you dont have unnessesary space being used.

User Friendlyness: Works, I was interested in what you had to say, my eye got on focal points. I give it a good rating.

Over all- Very good job. I'm assuming you made this through a web-develepment program such as Dreamwever, if not WOW! The patterns are modern and the overall presentation is great.

thanks for the kind words and taking the time to review my site, youngdesigner. great insight.

about the ad palcement... are you suggesting that i place my logo (or header) at the top, and then the horizontal ads?

about the navigation... i'm not much of a javascript wiz, but i'll look into finding a way to have the subnavs close if another is opened. it's a good idea. and you're right, it would look better.

nope, no dreamweaver. i coded it by hand (using editplus), and made the grahics (i.e. the patterns) individually, with photoshop. that's how i usually work. lol.

You asked!
The color is too dark, unless your looking for a halloween theme. Too much scrolling down, I left early.

I don't like the amount I have to scroll down to see the blog. Stuff like "most recent articles" could go on the side. we want actual content and we want it now

thanks, Vairkjosa, the tree.

Vairkjosa: i was looking to do something a little different (most of the site i've designed have been white, or light colors), but i do get your point.

the tree: would an inline link (like "skip to content") above the header make it any better?

It's not really the dark color that was all that bad. Good contrast with the text, but the page needs to be much smaller. Unless your going to break it up into some kind of categories. Scrolling without direction was too confusing. Kind of like a run on sentence.
