Well last night I downloaded I.E. 7. I am a Firefox fan but I do know many of my sites visitors are I.E. fans so I had a look and it seems ok. The tabbed browsing seems to work, the phishing filter takes a while but apparently works too… what does the committee think?

IE7 is 'better', better than IE6, but light years behind every other browser.

If you are running windows I would recommend upgrading to IE7 even if you use another browser - as windows integrates IE within the OS.

I have witnessed massive memory leaks on my computer, I'm thinking of rolling back to 1.5 or switching to Opera (it has cool mouse gestures (http://www.opera.com/products/desktop/mouse/) ;))

Do you hear voices, too? Question everything. Compared to IE7, FF is light years ahead.
I have witnessed massive memory leaks on my computer It's amazing that this misnomer is still around. The so-called memory 'issues' you see are NOT leaks but cache usage. FF will use as much available memory for caching web pages and extensions because it is available memory! Should other applications need it, FF gives it up to the OS. There are NO memory leak problems with FF that you would be aware of!

Now, before someone jumps on that last line, there were/are such issues with some extensions created by 3rd parties. Don't know if they are still problems but I know I don't have them.

Firefox can run in as little as 12Mb, perhaps less, if necessary. Some people say, "I quit out of Firefox but it didn't release the memory!" Yes, it did. Memory released to Windows can take many minutes (I've even heard hours) before being reclaimed. The reason is Windows concern the app may start up again and need that memory. This is an OS issue and not Firefox.

Do keep in mind that it's Internet explorer we're talking about-- it always has been behind and even in it's prime, it's still behind earlier versions of FF. I see no evidence that IE will surpass FF (or Opera for that matter).

I'll update it, only because Windows has it so twisted and knotted into the OS.
Viva Firefox!
