as one looks at the top posters list (http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/memberlist.php?postslower=0&postsupper=0&ausername=&homepage=&icq=&aim=&yahoo=&msn=&joindateafter=&joindatebefore=&lastpostafter=&lastpostbefore=&order=DESC&sort=posts&pp=76&ltr=), one may notice a disturbing statistic: the once-coveted (http://www.webdeveloper.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51121&highlight=10%2C000) post count of 10,000 seems to be a death wish. jona and pyro both reached the mark, and since have all but been swept up in their own careers and no longer post here, at least not on a regular basis. nick (PeOfEo) came within 51 posts but hasn't visited in 2 months. as charles has less than 500 to go, will he fall victim as well? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!
</conspiracy>

You know, I bet if you checked the numbers, most people don't make it past 20 posts.
So maybe 20 is cursed.

What's more I guarantee that more posters fail to get past 1 than 10,000 so maybe 1 is cursed too.

From what I can tell most people don't even make it to the 2,000 mark so beware 2,000 also...

GAH! I think all the numbers are cursed!

RHS, You didn't open the conspiracy tag! Therefore there is no conspiracy. Besides, 10,000 has only the meaning you give it.

Dang, I spend too much time on the computer! Must... get.... a life!

Oh noes... not Charles the loveable senpai!
Fortunately I'm less than a third of the way there so I guess I'm safe, then again, I WANT PROMOTIONAL MERCHANDISE.

...
10,000 only has meaning if your species has decided to count in base ten and has discovered the use of zero. :)

10,000 only has meaning if your species has decided to count in base ten and has discovered the use of zero. :)Why would it not have meaning if any other base had been chosen?

Pehaps I should have stated it as, "The decimal value 10,000 only has...." If you were counting in base 16, then decimal 10,000 would be 2710 -- not a particularly special-looking number. In base 8 it would be 23420, again not particularly special.

2710 ..if you add those 2+7+1+0 = 10..how is that not special! :D :p

Except in hexadecimal it would be:

2 + 7 + 1 + 0 = A

I've only made it to 'the 1200's' in the 10 months that I've been here. But I'd rather be it that I've helped 10,000 people solve their problem, not 10,000 posts. Most of my posts are fairly benile and only mildly helpful. 10,000 posts is the milestone, etc? Hmm... -Not that it should count towards one's total, but it's pretty easy to post in WebsiteReview or CoffeeLounge (everyone's a critic and loves coffee...) :D

posts in the lounge don't count towards the total.
