ive heard that the meta tags are used for your site to appear in search engines and things. Well, i copied some meta tags of another site but nothing happened.
It could be because my webpage is hosted on a freewebs.com, but if not, please tell me how to appear in search engines.

hold on to that one

in short you need:
good contents
link to sites with similar contents
try to get those sites to link to your pages
to be patient, you wont appear on search engine result pages over night
and many more :)

Just because you added the meta tags, doesn't mean that it is instantly going to be one of the top results.

It takes a while for your site to get close to the top, search engines don't search the web when you type in a search, instead they search their own database of sites, to return you the most relevant results.

Try google sitemaps:
https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=sitemaps&nui=1&continue=https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/siteoverview%3Fhl%3Den&hl=en
This allows you to submit a list of pages which are in your site, and google will search them (could take a few hours till google search them).

I can tell you right now:
If you want better search results, get your own domain and hosting. You can get free hosting, and sign up for a domain name if you want too. That is usually much cheaper than buying hosting and a domain.

Meta tags are almost worthless. Good SE placement takes time and experience... you'll need to study up or find someone you can hire.

o i heard there are also "traffic blazers" that tell google to show up the url or something.

Can someone recommend me a good soft to upload my files on my domain (i want no ftp servers, just an uploader to url)
