this is just a general request for opinions or suggestions on the site I recently built for my father's home improvements company. Do you like the way it looks? Does it convey a sense of professionalism? Does it have any easy-to-navigate layout? Do you have any recommendations?
I just want to bring this up to a community of people that are "in the know" in terms of website design. I've asked friends and family but their feedback is inevitably biased.
Any comments appreciated.

Error 404: NOT FOUND!

i'll take the feedback part of this thread over to that section....thank you.
but re: that error: why do you think this happens? every few days it shows up as this error...but there's nothing wrong with the site...and i can access my local version fine @ http://s115825063.onlinehome.us/index.html ... is this a 1AND1 problem? common?

It looks well, but i'd change the blue and black colours if it is possible for you to do so, good site though

Any idea why the homepage has a space in it above the footer??? (FF & Opera)
(FF2.0) When I hover on the navigation, I can see there are meant to be pop-ups, however they are hidden behind the main image. Also, I don't liek how the links on the left are centred. Left align would be much nicer to look at in my opinion.
there is also a gap between the content and footer for me. about 5pixels. And ther eis a large blank space at the bottom of the footer.
The site also breaks when the text is scaled up (ctrl+scroll button)
I think it would be ok if the basic problems were sorted. There are a few code warnings too. look at www.w3.org validator to sort those out.
edit: also, the left menu, when you hover on the links, the text shifts down 1px to account for the border. change your css so that it has 1px less padding on hover to fix this.

I can see a white border-style gap at the top of the blue footer - is this the area you're asking about?
Or do you mean why is there a gap between the top of the footer section and the text?
