I am looking for a domain name service that gives out domain names only. I already have a dedicated server and a T1 connection so I only have to get a domain name (a .com preferably).
Also, if anyone knows, where I can find a list of registered names?

Whats the big deal about ONLY domain names? If you don't want their hosting or other services, you don't get em. You can get just a domain name from any registrar.

Godaddy is good. Just change the nameservers to point to your server.

A list of registered domains? That will take your whole life to read through it LOL! Just type in the keywords that you want, add .com at the end, copy and paste onto some bulk registration box like GoDaddy.com has, and try to see if you can get any one of them.
If you get frustrated, go to Sedo.com etc. and search to see if there is any desired name for sale. You may find some decent deals on eBay, but most sellers are over optimistic. LOL!!
For example, here's my portfolio: http://*********.*****/search/searchresult.php4?language=e&showuser=*****

They are 5 times more expensive than GoDaddy.com.
Use gdh1129 coupon code on GoDaddy.com to save 20% on .com through 11/30/2006.

I don't want to pay for anything I won't use.

And you won't. If all you want is a domain name, that's all you'll be charged for.
