Php -- Securing Php

I'm not sure how to secure PHP, i've tried to go into the privilegs and set a password for the root and local host but it won't let me put a password in there. Anyone have helpful tips to get that take care of so I'm not hanging out in the open waiting for someone to get in?

how would someone get into you php? i'm confused about what you're trying to prevent here...
