Hi,
I have done alot of development - but all static.
I have been asked if I can design an internet shop, where I provide a control panel for the web pages and shop items etc. I'm not really sure where to start with this - does anyone have any suggestions or pointers. I am currently using Dreamweaver 8.
This is a real opportunity for me and I'd love to do it.
Also if I was to do this sort of thing can anyone recommend a good hosting company?
Thanks loads
PJ :)

Thanks for the replies.
I'm in the UK so I really need a UK host.
I've gone through the http://opensourcecms.com/ site, which has lots of great things.
I need to link two websites which share the same customer database one is ecommerce one is not would I be able to do all this using one of the ecommerce packages?
I've looked at both zencart and osCommerce. I can't really see where you can change the fields for members but I'm sure you can. Does anyone have any experience with either.
Also is it OK to use open source or am I better of trying to buy a package?
Thanks

I am not sure how to answer your questions about the database, but as for your question about using open source or not - it is certainly 'ok' to use open source and so long as it does everything you need then why pay for a system? Plus, being opensource increases the likelihood of 'plugins' or 'extensions', etc. that random people make for the system to increase its features/usability.
