I have a b/w png logo that I want to change to our company color. I use OS X and have Fireworks, but I am having trouble with the Replace Color tool -- it does not seem to work with black.

The graphic is a medieval print that I want to make the same color as our logo.

Any advise on tools, or Fireworks, would be appreciated.

All I think you could do here is trace over the image. Although I'm not familiar with Fireworks, I'm sure it's as simple as taking the time to brush the logo or picture in.

If the image was grey scale, with many shades of grey, the replace color tool wouldn't have too much effect.

I'd make the white transparent (by deletion), then adjust the color of the image using Hue/Saturation. It won't be an exact science, such as specifyiing that the color is #ff0000, but you'll get really close.

You could also apply a color layer over the image, then play around with the properties. I think Overlay is a choice.
