Is there anything specific I would have to do to be able to run SSIs? Is there a specific setting in IIS? I am running IIS 5.0 at home and haven't tried using SSIs yet.

ssi ios server side includes so, it is run by server so, no dont think you would need anything special to run SSI scripts.

Most servers require you to enable SSI before using it, as a security issue. I believe this page explains how to set it up for IIS: http://perl.xotechnologies.net/tutorials/SSI/SSI.htm
