A very simple suggestion, and this may sound a little sexist, but why not make the menu items intended for females a pink colour?

Dark pink for Women, light pink for Girls, darker blue for Men and a lighter blue for boys?

It might not be to some people's liking as it may make the menu look a little mish-mash for some but maybe it could be a more subtle difference between the menu items?
