I am confused.
I have written a simple page with a couple of links on them and it works in the browser at first. But if I reopen the file in frontpage and then save it again I get the gibberish "+ADwAIQ-DOCTYPE html etc..." when I open it in the browser.
Also, some of the links turn into japanese type symbols when reopened in frontpage.
any ideas?

I say get a different editor. Your first mistake was using frontpage.

so my code is ok and it's frontpage that's wrong?
Is there any other editor along the same lines? I would be happy using notepad but I like to be able to work on live files and I like the colour coding of the html script.

HTML Kit (http://www.chami.com/html-kit/) has that and more.

cheers! Just gave it a go. It's a lot quicker and doesn't seem to crash when saving like frontpage does
