Hello~ I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm new to working with Dreamweaver 8. I developed the website for my client who now wants to be able to login and edit 3 pages of the website to add or change information. I downloaded Smartftp and uploaded it ftp to the host. I couldn’t figure out how to upload it to the host without it. Soooooo my client would like to edit the website without dreamweaver or smartftp and I just don’t know how to make this possible. Any suggestions? Thanks so much. Laurie

Any suggestions? Return his money. I've never seen a Dreamweaver site that could be easily be edited by hand, nor one that was minimally acceptable. They might look good but under the hood they are a mess.
And wanting to make changes on-line means that you will have to give him a content management system (CMS).

Laurie, u can safely ignore Charles' outburst there...
If the client wants to modify web pages, then just give 'em the FTP client and a password. Even better, tell 'em to download ws_ftp and then give 'em a pwd for the site. If they goof it up, you will charge them to fix.
You could do as Charles suggested and give 'em a content management system (for a fee of course) but this isn't necessary unless they are going to do a lot of changes and want to be able to roll back to earlier versions. for now, they should save a copy of each file b4 modifying it. they should modify on their local machine then upload to site via ftp.
no one needs dreamweaver or anything else to modify web pages. what tool they use is there problem. you can make recommendations of course. and there are some decent tools freely available for download on the internet.
Charles, you're getting cranky these days...
