how do I build something like youtube ?

I am interested in starting a site similar to youtube, but specific to a particular musical instrument. In other words I want to start a site where participants can upload and view videos. Where/how do I start ?

Try checking out the source code for some Youtube Videos and see what is up with them. I know you will need a pretty big database to hold all of the videos.
