psd graphic/text to Illustrator vector?

Is there a way I can take my psd into Illustrator and convert it to vector? My psd is just graphic and text, no photo. Beginner to Illustrator. Not yet sure how to do the same work in Illustrator as I did in photoshop.

Importing Photoshop files into Illustrator is not nearly as easy as going from Illustrator to Photoshop.

WHen you place a photoshop image into Illustrator you'll see the top tool bar change... From there you'll notice a button called "Live Trace". From there it's matter of what options best fit your type of file.
The conversion process isn't perfect or pretty. If you have a text layer in Photoshop turn it off before going into Ill, it'll just make things easier to put it back later.
