Hi,
I createds an image with gimp and need to cut the image up in 4 pieces and assemble back to gether ona webpage.
The trouble is I can't cut an image up in 4 squares easily as I am taking ages fiddling about .
I tried using snap guides in gimp but i couldn't get that working.
How can I cut up an image in 4 pieces? I have gimp and image composer.
There has got to be an easiy way than just trial and error and lining up.

As far as I know the only way is to use the grid, or use some type of Info palette (I know Adobe Photoshop has that), where it will show you the length and height of the image, then you find the exact middle and split it up from there.

I don't know of anything that splits it up though?

Hey Jag. Don't know gimp, so I hope this helps anyway. In photoshop, we would set our guides (holding down the shift key as we drag so that the lines snap to the pixels. Once the boxes were created, we would highlight the area in question (making sure we were on a visible layer) and use what we used to call the "super copy", hold down CTRL, SHIFT, & C to copy the box area and all layers in that area, then create a new file (the demensions should be the same as your copy, then paste into the new file. Save each piece as a gif or jps and then reassemble them in your coding. Depending on how you cut, you may need to use tables. if it's a simple 2 side by side graphics with 2 side by side underneath graphics, just place the two images after each other followed by a br tag then the other two.
Hope this helps

I will have alook but I really need gimp instructions because the applaications usually are not exactly the same. I don't want to spend hours on something that may not work, when I can do it with crop tool.
