How to see who is on website?

Is there a way to display who is on a webpage at one time. SO that other users can see them also. Sign up with a name so it would display on page: WHO IS ONLINE

problem is the serverI am using doesn't allow php or CGI anything like that. was looking to see if there was something in java. do you know if there is anything like that in java?

I'm assumbing you mean javascript, and if so, no you can not do that...
