Is it just me or does everything (especially text) seem out of focus in IE7?

I think that you are just getting older.

I think it's the new default way IE7 renders fonts. It's not the same as IE6. I guess they were trying to make the fonts seem more smooth... In the process they seem to have made it look worse though (In my opinion). :p

Sounds like the M$ "ClearType (http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/Step1.aspx)" feature.

bokeh, if it looks to small try adjusting the zoom (ctrl + slide wheel on mouse)

I hadn't noticed it before but now (especially putting them side by side) ie looks slightly blurred.

So I wasn't just hung over for the past several weeks.

Well I think the fonts look like one of those t-shirts that say "Too much mass debating causes blindness".

There's a new setting in Options -> Advanced that is enabled by default 'Always show ClearType for HTML' ... if you value your eyesight maybe you should switch it off?
