mp3 player?

hey u guys i didnt know where to post ..anyways...i am doing a side project...and asp.net website with a player that holds up to 10 songs (10mb each song) ,guestbooks,polls and stuff i learned on the road...could turn out pretty nice :D...anyways...i was wondering if there could be any intelligent way i can do or use in order to play the songs in a faster way..i mean it will take a person one day to listen to a song lets 12 mb with a connection as the one in my country..i thought i could change the bitrate of the songs..like make it 64 kb/s or something..would accept anything u guys will recommend...10x in advance
