newsletter pop-under. Good ar bad idea?

I know many people are against pop-unders, but I decided to give it a shot.
(I hope this is not concidered spamming, but I can't find another way to do this...)
Could you go in on my homepage at www.appsoftheweb.com and have a look at the pop-under.

Is it good, or do you think it hurts my "image" to have it as a pop-under?

How would you do it if you were in my shoes?

Happily my firewall blocks your pop under so I can't speak for the content. However, if you must have an advert a pop under is one better than a popup.

Well, I don't like pop-unders myself (or pop-ups for that matter), but I really didn't get it to fit in anywhere on the page, so that's pretty much why I decided to make one...

Hard to choose... I want people to sign up, but on the other hand I don't want to look like an idiot

Most download sites have them. And lets face it, they won't notice a pop under till they've gone LOL. Hopefully they'll have signed up by that time...

You just need to make sure the content doesn't advertise one of your competitors. Otherwise you will look an idiot.
