Please help!
I recently tried to update a website and tried to connect via dreamweaver as normal and it wont connect? At first I thought dreamweaver was the problem but it cant be. As soon as I try connecting it freezes my internet connection.
Have checked settings in norton, but dont really know where I am looking. I havent changed any settings at all. Ive made sure it allows dreamweaver.
Seems to be that I cant access any FTP at all without it crashing my connection.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance

Could be that the ftp server is down. Try going out the the command prompt and typing:
ftp www.yourURL.com
and see if you get a response from the server.

I had a similar problem not too long ago, the problem was at my isp, I wasn't able to connect to any ftp server. Alternatively you can try to enable passive mode, maybe it helps.

can u ping ftp server? tried ftp yourDomain.com (without www) ?
can u ftp to any public ftp servers?
if answer to last question is yes, try to trace route to your ftp server. maybe their server is fine, but some edge router, or your isp is having issues.
oh yeah, obvious question but...can you http to your site with your web browser? what is the url?

check firewall settings. make sure ports 20 and 21 not blocked

also, if u are running norton internet security, set it to allow ftp, or turn it off. dont need it anyway if u have firewall.
