Just wonderin'

What do you have to do to become a moderator? And can the mods give themselves special titles or is it the administrator who has to do this?

I'm not sure actually... I was approached by the administrator. And yes, you have a lot of posts to go...

And yes we can give ourselves special titles. I think you can too after 50 posts.

Be aware that there are two moderator types: moderaots like me have powers in our own forum to open close move modify etc threads. Super moderators (like pyro) can do that anywhere.

So, can I, a regular mortal, become a mod?

Do I have to be promoted by admins and other mods to become this?

That decision is left to the Administrator (Compguy Pete), but generally speaking, that priviledge is given to those who have a lot of posts, and have been a large help on the forums...

I suppose I can help dave out here...

I look at a number of factors when picking mod's here are just a few...

Number of posts count but don't nearly count as much as quality of the posts.
The type of member that you are...
How the prosective user interacts with the other current mod's

Right now I will mention that we have our group of modeators and shouldn't need more for sometime...

Compguy Pete, what do you mean by:The type of member that you are...?

Well there are 2 basic types of members

1. members that need help
2. members that help

I'm sure everyone wants a moderator that helps answer more problems than they might ask.

I too like to think of myself as helpful at times, but I still need the occasional hand to guide me.

Well, if you ever need another moderator, I'm putting in a vote for Charles, I don't think I've ever seen him ask for help in here, and he has helped me on more that one occasion.
