Posted a survey question some time ago about preferences on using tables. Have to start the new year off by saying WOW...I started a ....storm. Not many people seem to like tables.
HOWEVER, in viewing many, many BIG sites (and small) at least 90% of them use tables. Personally, think they have their purpose, glitches and all. Thanks for the imput it was fun.

Many big sites code was developed years ago before CSS was more stable and it's more difficult for them to change; but change they do as did MSN and Microsoft themselves. For every 'big site' example you found, there is another that is changing. And using tables for layout is non-standard usage. You must either learn to do it the right way or die.

You must either learn to do it the right way or die.
In you estimation, how will those deaths come about?

Lol...thanks for the comment. True, things are changing constantly. It's hard at times to know what the "right way" is. They only teach you so much in school and like so many other things, there always seems to be a plethera of opinions. Tables are finicky but can be useful at times. I've found I've learned even more just digging around on tutorial sites and forums like this.
CSS is definately the way to go, just noting that there are still many others who use and like tables. I appreciate your thoughts. The dying part...well...it's just the computer right? ;-)

It's hard at times to know what the "right way" is. Not at all. The rules are posted for all to see: http://www.w3.org/TR/html401/ and http://www.w3.org/TR/WAI-WEBCONTENT/ .
