Ok, I've been a web design enthusiast/hobbyist for a long time but I have only recently installed Apache (and PHP/Perl/MySQL) on my PC to use for developing (before this I used to use things like the original Geocities, way back in the day).
I am using Windows XP and I know I can access Apache through my home network using just the IP address of my PC, but I wanted to know how to set it up so I can access it safely from another computer not on my home network....I guess it would now be on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is apache running on a computer directly connected to the internet ?

If so open a browser in THAT computer and point it to www.whatismyip.com to know the IP address of your computer.

THen you can type that IP address to view apache from outside your network

I don't know what you mean by directly, but I'm thinking no. It is behind a router, so I'm guessing that that is not a direct connection. Somebody on another forum was mentioning something about port forwarding on the router. Anybody care to elaborate?

gpo,
Please don't hijack the thread. Open a new one with your question so we can stay on topic. Thanks!
