sending sms in asp

Can anybody help me to develop a program sending sms in asp? what are the steps required for this? i'm developing a portal site for which after registration, the registered user should get an SMS alert

generally, all u need to do is send an email.

check the various carriers web sites (verizon, t-mobile, cingular etc) for specific info -- what email address to send message to etc.
