I guess this falls under "general" so...

One of my computers has adopted this odd habit of crashing frequently...often it is the dreaded Blue Screen Of Death. It happens mostly when browsing the net..occasionally it happens offline as well.

I have defragged the drive, ran a complete ScanDisk program, ran Anti-Virus and Spyware detection programs, cleaned out the Temporary Internet Files Folder and even uninstalled programs I no longer use.

The Motherboard is only three years old and the Windows 98 platform still seems to be otherwise intact and functioning...so does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem may be?

Could be a hardware problem, such as a malfunctioning fan - I once had a similar problem, which was caused because the fan power cable was pulled out when the computer case was opened, and not replaced.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks..I will try that when I get the chance...frankly I am stumped by this problem.

I thought at first the HD was going bad but it isn't making any odd sounds nor is the drive motor failing..and there are no incidences of bad sectors..so I will try the fans..

It seems to have worked!
Actually what I did was open the case and disconnect all the cards and plug them back in..especially the HD.

I even disabled the Anti-Virus and SystemWorks from Norton...so far so good....thanks.
