I'd like to purchase a computer but I don't need a monitor, keyboard, or mouse.

What do you suggest?

Typically you can get the best bang for your buck by ordering the individual components and assembling them yourself: case and power supply, motherboard, CPU, disk drives, peripheral cards, etc. I've usually used newegg.com for that, but there are many other suppliers you could choose from, too.

I have had some luck with buying from online auction sites such as ebay, yahoo, Bidville or Overstock auctions. You can choose from either new or used computers/parts to buy and the prices can be very cheap. You have to be careful with auctions because there are some bad seller who may try to take your money and never send the item or send a broken computer or something like that. An expensive computer probably is not the best first purchase for a new auction buyer. Its better to start out with cheaper items until you get the hang of how auctions work.
I have found with auctions it is often cheaper to buy a complete system than to buy individual parts from different people and put them together yourself. I usually upgrade my old computer by buying the parts and doing the work myself but my next computer may be a name brand computer with the restore disks to save some time.

Yea we had a machine like that once. However this was back in the early 80's when IBM would sell you a Floppy based 4.77Mhz PC without keyboard and monitor. They were listed as "optional extras" on the order form. If you got a mouse with it then it was probably eating the box.
