I purchased a customized and totally loaded HP 3.02 PIV m300y Media Center PC with 2gigs RAM, fastest HDD, HTT,best CDR+-W+-/sep HS DVD, digital ports HDMI DVI.I got a great PC with an outdated WMCE software OS with WMCE OS v 2003+. MS REQUIRED that all owners of PC's with the older(non 2005 OEM WMCE OS) 2001-2003 MCE s/w then, purchase unique updates to WMCE 2005 FROM individual manufacturers/PC vendors> which I did, from HP. However, every time I have attempted the update by loading and installing the HP WMCE 2005 CD, within 30-45 minutes I experience nearly total PC crash requiring a destructive system recovery, from WinXP SYS Restore option in safe mode. After arguing with HP for the duration of my 3 year TOTAL ext warr, I did get WMCE v.2004+ [obviusly NOT mce2005], and I cannot upgrade the 2004 version any further than, the last rolloutapplicable for the 04 version... the upgrades that MS/Windows updates & d/l's offered. HP will NOT sell me a NEW WMCE 2005 OS that will obviously work with HP's system boards, setup etc. So with my digital, HD ready to go monitors & other peripherals, I can't access or do anything, because all of the HD options and 100's of WMCE 2005updates REQUIRE the 2005 OS, Any suggestions or has anyone else run into this insidious brick wall. Such a waste for a $2,400.00 PC, & a cool $1200 HD monitor that could also be a functioning HDTV as I have HD signal but the tuners ALL require the WMCE 2005. Any suggested workarounds or other programs that I could use/load by even wiping my HDD and starting from scratch? Feel free to email me at > mborganist@hotmail.com, or here @ WD.
