I have seen several techniques out on the web for accomplishing the technique of having a scrolling table body with a fixed header, but the solutions usually come up short in one or two areas.

I am looking for help with a cross-browser solution that will allow me to accomplish this using:

a single table
a table that is not a fixed width
table cells that can be fluid (widths sized using percentages)

Has anyone does this before? Do you know of examples I could look at that do this? I found some that are close, but they either are not fluid, or they are not cross browser.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work on IE7. I only see the table headers and no data. In IE6, I don't like the way the rows can be seen a little bit above the top of the headers when scrolling, but I could live with it if i had to. The big problem is that is does not work in IE7, which I know some of my audience is already using, and those that aren't using it yet, will be in the near future.

Thanks for the help. If you have the solution to get it to work in IE7, then let me know.

I don't line the look in IE6 either, but that's the best I've seen.

Thanks for letting me know that it does not work in IE7. I don't have that yet and have been advised not to get it until our company works out some bugs with it interacting with other software.
