Can anyone point me to a good resource on the web regarding the connection to a wireless modem? I just got a new HP notebook with built-in wireless card, and am trying to get it to connect with my existing wireless router (which is working fine with my old notebook's wireless card as I type this).

Existing wireless modem: NetGear MR814v2
PC wireless card: Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN
OS: WinXP-Home

The only way I could get the PC to connect to the modem was to specify a fixed IP address (192.168.0.5) and reserve that address for its MAC address on the modem (via the browser-based control panel). So now the PC appears to connect to the wireless modem OK, but I can't connect to the internet. Hopefully I'm just missing one little step that's not obvious to me. Then again, I'm pretty ignorant on this networking stuff, so I may be screwing things up totally.

Step By Step:
1: type in 192.168.0.1 to set up
2. Go to Network Connections
3. Right Click Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN
Properties-->Wireless Network-->ADD
Put in your info then it should work

Thanks for the feedback. I got it working (finally!). I think I probably had something screwed up with the network key - I re-entered the key on the modem (via my desktop PC) and in the network config on the notebook, and now it's working.
