If I wanted to use an image on a particular page twice, for instance on either side of the header of a page, I can do that. But if I wanted one image to be mirrored how would I do that? If I am not totally clear, which happens often, please ask me to TRY and make myself clearer.
A secondary point now, what other deformations can be made to an image (apart from changing it's size)?

if you want to mirror an image you will need to use a graphics program to make a mirror image as a second image. there is no attribute to do that or other "deformations" as you call them.

Sure you can. :) This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but it'll set you in the right direction. I'd look into the filter attribute more, there's a ton of cool stuff in there - unfortunately, it's only for IE. =/

Since all you want to do is mirror you image, I wouldn't recommend using the IE only filter attribute. It would be simple enough for you to open you image up with a paint program as Beach Bum suggested, and make yourself a new image. This way it'll work in all browsers.
