I am now having problems with “symbols” showing up on my screen everytime I hit reply/forward etc to e-mails. I’m getting something like a music note 2 straight horizontal lines with a large dot at the top left of the first line. It appears just after my cursor and at the end of every line.

…also everytime I hit a space bar, a dot appears mid way between each word.

I believe it begun after I tried to open up a document from a new person. The document didn’t open and in replying to this person, these symbols appeared and they now appear on everything I do.

Please help!

You using Word to write your emails? If so, load up Word, click Tools -> Options. On the View tab, make sure "Spaces" and "Paragraph marks" are deselected.

That sorted me out when it happened

I did this but it was already de-selected, so I didn’t change anything. Still get symbols.

Thanks

Centered dots where the characters are and carriage return symbols where the line breaks are? I think MS Word calls these something like hidden characters, I can't remember for the life of me where to find the control for them.
But anyways, don't sweat it. These characters are there weather you see them or not and they wont show up on the other guys computer if his settings aren't set to show them.
