Today while I was surfing the Web checking out my own site and looking for any modifications
I might need to make, all of a sudden on a page where I had a MIDI file playing some background music, LIVE UPDATE from Real Player Popped up and Prompted me to Install a Program Update for Real Player called “Crescendo”. I figured well they must know what they are doing if they think I need it, so I clicked OK and it installed in Seconds and Instantly my IE 7 started Locking up, and would not Load pages with MIDI Files properly. I kept getting Program not responding errors.

Had I been on someone else’s site I might have thought I got a Virus, but being that it happened on my OWN site, I knew that could not be the case. Then I became really frustrated because I didn’t want someone else coming to my site and having this happen to them and thinking that I embedded some kind of Virus in my Pages. So this began to really upset me when I could not figure out the Problem. First thinking that maybe someone planted a URL Specific Bug in my Computer so when I viewed that Particular page it would Launch the Virus, the first thing I did was Scan my Computer with everything I had, and I found Nothing.

I tried using Firefox and everything worked fine, no Problems at all. It viewed the page and played the MIDI file and everything Loaded perfectly.

Then I Un-installed and Re-installed IE 7 Which did nothing also, the Problem was still occurring.
So then I went to another Computer I have and it Tried to Install Crescendo again, so I looked at everything very carefully before I clicked NO to Refuse to install the Software. I noticed that the Software was an update for Real Player, so I Uninstalled Real Player on the Computer with the Problem, and Presto! Everything worked fine after that. So that told me the Problem was in Real Player for sure.

So then I Manually Configured my Real Player after I re-installed it, I went to TOOLS>
PREFERENCES> MEDIA TYPES> MANUALLY CONFIGURE> and I Unchecked the box for MIDI Files. Rebooted and Cleared my Browser History just to make sure and everything worked Fine. Problem Solved.

So then I called up Real Player and told them about it, they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about, or they were completely unaware of the Problem.

The Problem is the Crescendo Software, whoever made it, did something WRONG.
And neither Microsoft or Real Player seems to be aware of the Issue.

Just thought I would let you know about it.
