I have a few questions about Google.
1. Does anyone know how often they update their database/use their spider?
2. I've heard that the more you have of certain words on your page, the higher your page is in the list. Couldn't you just make a <span> tag with no visibility or no display with lots of words that your site is about? Then it would be higher up the list, right?

First, I think their spider is probably going constantly. I'm thinking that you're wondering this because you want your site registered with Google. It could take quite awhile for it to find you, especially if you don't have your own domain name. However, you can always use this to submit your site:

I'm not sure of course, but I think that the order of the pages has to do with how "relative" they are to the search. A major factor in this, I think, is the words in the <h#> tags on your page... That's why it's imortant to use <h1> instead of just <font size="7"> or something like that...

Making the text the same color as the background... Would be considered Cloaking, and should the googlebot find that your doing that, your sites listing is going to drop badly.
even teh span idea is looked on as a form of spam.
Content is king with google.
Here is another thread I was helping someone with the other day.

The reason that putting certain words on your page gets you 'higher rankings' is that some searches are done more often than others and one of the things tht affects your ranking is if other people have clicked your link.
