[RESOLVED] dot com pending renewal or deletion?

I have been waiting for this certain dot com to expire and it's not yet available. The dot com I want to register expired on Jan. 10th, 2007 and it's already Feb. 5th! Why is it taking so long for the dot com to expire? Is this normal?

All it says is pending renewal or deletion. Could this mean that the owner is wishing to renew? Btw, the previous owner had the domain for 10 years. Could that factor into this? Thanks for any ideas or recommendations!

I suspect the registrars give grace periods of at least 30 days and probably 90 for "better" customers. There may even be some legal ramifications.

If you go to registe.com you can reserve the domain in case they forget to renew the site.

Wow, nice link Leeu. According to that article, the entire process takes 75 days. So that means I get to wait roughly 50 more days. Fantastic.
