i want to display video on my site is there a free player i can use.

What kind of video? .flv .wmv .mov .avi?

i want to build something along the lines of youtube style whats the most common type of files id probabally be best off going with something that plays more than one type of file im not sure yet im in the preparation stage want to find out what i need first. Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions.

youtube style is flash. It uses flash for the actual player. All of their videos are in the .flv format. www.gotoandlearn.com has some good tutorials on making a flash video player.
