need javascript intro...

im in need of a lil intro to making scripts that do things when the function is called instead of just doing so and displaying stagnant.......basically, i need an intro to lil animations and effects that are possible using javascript.......things like, onmosueover fading effects, moving text, fade in/fade out effects and basically, anything that could be called a js animation
