So I had to reboot my whole computer before and this deleted all my data I had and changed the computer back to the way it was shipped. (I saved all my "special" stuff in a seperate HD with my html pages)

So now that everything has finally came back, a font which I was using for my images has now changed its look. Instead of being smooth and soft, its now ridged and messy looking. Below is a good example of before and after.

Oh and the font is Arial Rounded MT Bold...

Is this a question or a statement or what do you want us to say about that?

Sorry about that, I was in a bit of a rush. It happens everywhere, in Photoshop, paint, my AIM window, when I type in MS Word. Its looks really messy and not as smooth as it was originally. I was curious if this has happened to anyone and knows how I can change the way the font looks on my computer, because I am 100% sure the font doesnt look that way normally. So any help on bringing it back to the default look would be nice.

first, write down the name of the font and tell me its name......

second, make sure to find someone somewhere you can download it from(maybe me)

third, goto C:\windows\fonts
and delete the font (will be labled the font's name)

4th, download the font....put it in a compressed folder (.zip)

5th, right-click the folder.....EXTRACT.....now type in th box where it asks you where you want to extract the files to ....type:
C:\windows\fonts
keep going until its extracted

6th, maybe restart windows

Depending on the version of Windows you have, I believe there's a place in Win XP and 2K in the Control Panel to use anti-aliased fonts. I think it's in the Display CP, probably under the Effects tab (Win 2000, probably similar for XP).

Photoshop should anti-alias fonts if you have choosen to do so.

If all else fails, check your display settings and make sure it's using at least 24-bit graphics. I don't know, setting your display to 16-bit graphics may make a difference if the video drivers are old. You could also check into upgrading video drivers.

Could also try Start > Run > charmap (hit enter)

You can view each font on the computer and see if the font in question is also pixelated there to. Even double-click the font file in the FONTS folder, it should read something like "The quick brown fox jumped..." and check for pixelization.

Try checking the Control panel first, then do as HKRS CLAN suggested. It could just be a corrupt font.

Dude, thanks for the help but it didnt work. I am using Windows XP and my setting is at 32bits. I have Photoshop but I dont know how to change the anti-alias thing. Any other suggestions?

Oh, and I attatched the window which opens when you click on the font. As you can see at size 12 the font is very pixelized and its supposed to have a little blur look to it.

I figured it out!

Do this:

1. Start > Control Panel

2. Open Display Properties

3. Click the Appearance tab

4. Click the Effects button, lower-right

5. Make sure a check is next to "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts" and select your method of choice.

6. Click OK in the Effects window and in the Display Properties window.

go to the "photoshop's" creator's site
and find like.....contact info......support..help and talk to them.....i fear it might be a messup with the software........

(if it is it might be curable....if it isnt.......who knows!?)

from here on my knowledge is useless to you in the exact subject
