Hello ,

i have a script that will update a single row in a database 10 or more times a second .

The database contains about 10000 rows.

Is this going to slow down mysql ? Considering a p4 computer or a single processor server ?

Thank you.

Whenever you do 10 updates a second for a protracted amount of time, performance will take a hit.

The number of rows may play a greater or lesser role depending on the table and index structure, and the nature of your SQL statement. MySQL will do some query caching to minimize the effects of this barbaric assault - which makes me curious: What in the world are you up to?
