I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but I couldn't decide which one it fit into best...

I'm looking for a database (or even a table) of United States Zip codes and the city and state they belong to.

Google only turned up commercial results. Aren't Zips considered public record?

If anyone can tell me where I can find a free listing or database, I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,

Nick

Information contained in a database may be public record but the database itself is not.

Thanks.

Neither of those links seem to work though- They download fine, but the zips won't extract.

Found this, but apparently it's 10 years out of date. (Which doesn't surprise me since it's a government website).

Anyone know of a more up to date one?

It doesn't need to be in a database even, just a comma delimiated text file, or Excel, or a table...

Thanks again,

Nick

go to www.usps.gov and buried somewhere in their site is something along the lines of "developer tools" from there you can find out how to access their zipcode database, but it involves an "application approval" blah, blah, blah. It's not impossible, but it's not quick and easy either.
