timesheet clock tracking thing...?

i would like to build (with php and mysql) a small little "app" to have at work.
so when people come to work, they click a button and the time is registered in a mysql db. same thing when they clock out...

i am not english so i don't even know what to google for...
what is this called in english?
does anyone know of any tutorials for something like this?
