This site has now gone live and we're in the process of improving SEO, ranking and indexing. Its one of a number of designs I provided and although the client preferred this version it wasn't my first choice. However, as designers we have to listen to client comments so a certain compromise was made. The coding should stand up to plenty of scrutiny although we are deconstructing the flash files to see where there might be improvements. I've suggested the removal of the chrome frame to reduce on size however I can't figure why the 2 flash files don't animate at the same time - the timeframe seems to be the same!
The blog (I realise technically its not but will become) is solely input by the client and the site will include past winners and downloads at a later date.
The site is about to be supported by marketed press advertising in EVO.

All constructive comments greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Really clean HTML - nice.

The layout doesn't work for 800x600 res.; 1024x768 is OK, although the right edge is really close.

Good work -

I have to agree the width is too big. You can fix this by only having one flash piece running and eliminating the other. The thing is when you run multiple instances of flash on a site even if they're small the processing power of the computer starts spiking. This is probably what you're running into. Both pieces are synced on my machine, but I have a 3Ghz CPU with 4gb of RAM so that's not your typical user. Also the main menu items up at the top right seems to be floating out in the middle of nowhere with no design elements to bring your eye to and from the main content.

I like the color scheme though and the buttons.

Thanks for making your comments, appreciated.
The decision was taken with the client to display the site on large screens as the target market is 25-55yr old males with the perception they would own at least 17inch screens and have broadband connections. We wanted to use as much real estate of the screen as poss so 1024 px was undertaken with a view to creating an alternative 800 px site that would automatically load using javascript for small screens, if the client subsequently felt it necessary.
With the larger screen size our flash files were fine however we were a little concerned on the d/l of the size. Both these issues will be answered by analytics and as part of our service we will be monitoring and suggesting improvements over the next few months.
As for the top bar it seems rather empty because some of the content was removed from there. However there are more nav buttons to be implemented as well as a possible strap-line.
Thanks again, good to hear opinions.
