My knowledge of html is rather basic, and whist I did do a couple of tutorials that dealt with divs, I can seem to get even a simple three column vertical split. If I tell you what I'm hoping to achieve, I'm hoping you might be able to start me off in the right direction :-
Imagine the screen split so that there was a quater sized column on the left, and the same on the right with the remaining half of the screen in the centre. The two sides must remain a constant size whilst the centre should be able to resize according to the browser window.

The centre of the page won't need to scroll, but the sized will have images, and so need their own scroll bars against the sides of the screen (right column with scroll on right of the screen ect)

If you can help or point me to where I can get instructions on this type of simple coding it would be really helpfull, thanks !

thanks very much for the help, I'll have a good try at this. Would be nice for me to try to keep branching out into new designs and layouts for each new site.... plus, I'm learning bit by bit as I go !

Cheers -
