Hello, I am taking a big jump into web designing and moving away from tables. I just cannot create the layout I have in my design ideas. The result? Divs.

When creating tables, I used background image, with 800x600 diameter, and centered the table so it fitted any browser resolution.

I have an image of a book I have created. I have two questions for you:

1) What do you think of it, it is going to be a background for a fictious comic book store. (Look at mrtom100 's posts- he's doing the same assignment).

2) What size do I need to make it if it is going to be in a div? I intend on 800x600.

1) It's OK. It's a bit bright. Viewers may have trouble reading your text with such a bright background.
2) If you're attempting to accommodate an 800x600 resolution, 750px wide would be sufficient.

This is my page at the moment on the University server. Yes I know the divs are all out of place- I have only just started.

Are pixels the best, or should I use percent? If you look at my webpage with 800x600 it fits perfect but if its 1024x768 and above the book is in the corner and, well, it doesnt really look like a page.

If I resize the image, it makes it scroll in 800x600.

Have any suggestions? Thanks!
