How does one import table data from an external location?

When using a template, I can import images from an external location into the template. How does one do this with tables or data into a template table?

Most people do this with ASP or PHP... Depending on the server type you wish to use either a Windows or Linux based server you'll want to choose one over the other. ASP is for use on windows based servers and PHP is most commonly used on Linux based servers however it's possible to run PHP on a Windows based server as well.
